Trails in Wasatch County are looking good! Dutch is getting a little dusty but that’s better than snow covered and the riding is fast! The mornings have been nice and crisp and I would recommend that you get out and ride early, before work, before the sun warms the dirt and trees, before you get your coffee, before you do anything else… go ride your bike.
Some of us spend a lot of time training or conditioning on the road bike. It’s fast and you can really throw down the miles. But the fun starts when you get on that mountain rig and ride!
Also, tonight starts the Soldier Hollow weekly races series. From what I understand they alternate between Sundance and Soldier Hollow. Come out and support mountain biking in good, competitive company.
As for our favorite new trail, the Upper Riverview Trail, there are sheep up there and there is a sheep dog. Don’t confuse sheep and mountain lions. Both are skiddish. It is recommended that if you encounter the sheep dog you don’t entice it. We’ve had mixed feedback about it so be careful. No one has really had any scares or injuries. Meanwhile, watch out for the two fences that are strung across this trail. If you’re coming from the north end there is one fence that you may partially run over as I’ve seen several skid marks running under the fence. Please pay attention!
Important!!
Don’t forget we have a volunteer trail building day on Saturday, this weekend, the 19th of May. If you ride the trails you should be putting in your efforts to keep them. See the post about these volunteer days and earn your keep!
…. the map is on its way… soon, we’ll have one!! Keep your ears open!
